How It Works
“Growers” set up an account with Locally Grown Butts County and post their goods on the website weekly. Customers can then visit The Market at buttscounty.locallygrown.net to see what is for sale that week and to place their order. A few days later, the customer picks up his or her order at our designated area. Payment is made at this time directly to the Grower. The Grower then pays a fee of 8% of sales back to the market manager to cover web hosting and management costs. It’s just that simple.

Who Is Involved
Any small farmer or producer of homemade crafts, baked goods or prepared foods in and near Butts County, Georgia is invited to set up an account and sell their goods through this market. This market is ideal for the very small producer, as there are no flat fees or large time requirement. Do you have a surplus of eggs? Honey? Homemade soap? Set up an account and start selling your goods today!
Upon setting up an account, all “Growers” sign a contract with Locally Grown Butts County stating that they adhere to any and all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations and that they are responsible for any and all taxes due on items sold.

Rare Palm Trees

For those of you in love with the tropics and want to create your own oasis, the following seeds can be bought reasonably to help you get there.

I purchased the Cabbage palm and mexican fan palm seeds and have about a dozen palm trees growing in my greenhouse now. The success rate for seed germination was about 75% (I am guilty of losing a few of the germinated seeds, as I tried to transplant some into bigger pots and lost them - hint hint).

Plant your tomato plants Deep!

When you purchase your tomato plants this year, go for the tallest healthiest looking plants. I have planted tomato plants as deep as a foot but have heard other farmers say they like to put them in deeper than that, up to 30 inches!!!
